2021 was a very busy year for the USP Fellowship Training Council with three Interesting Case Report Series presentations and three Scientific Meetings organized and successfully convened from February to July 2021
FEBRUARY 2021
The Ultrasound Society of the Philippines Fellowship Training Council conducted the First Interesting Case Report Series for 2021 last February 10, 2021
The activity’s moderator was Dr. Filipinas R. Rojo, FPCR, FUSP from Ciudad Medical Zamboanga and one of the USP Board of Trustees.
Dr. Pedro Danilo Lagamayo, USP President enthusiastically welcomed the participants for another year of productive continuing education activities.
There were three interesting cases reported with the theme on Pediatric Ultrasound
The First Interesting Case, LUMPS AND BUMPS was presented by Dr. Joy A. David, Ultrasound Fellow-in-training from University of Santo Tomas Hospital. The case discussed dealt on malignant chest wall and breast lymphoma and the role of Ultrasound and other imaging modalities for diagnosis.
The Second Interesting Case, BABY’S SPLIT BRAIN: A CASE OF SCHIZENCEPHALY was presented by Dr. Danwyn Janel A. Mercado, Ultrasound Fellow-in-training from Quirino Memorial Medical Center. He discussed about Schizencephaly and the differential diagnosis for cerebral clefts such as Porencephaly.
Dr. Jezel Regullano-Samonte, Ultrasound Fellow-in-training from Quirino Memorial Medical Center delivered the Third Interesting Case entitled BABY’S BLEEDING BRAIN: A CLASSIC CASE OF GERMINAL MATRIX HEMORRHAGE AND WHITE MATTER INJURY OF PREMATURITY. She elaborated on Germinal Matrix Hemorrhage and White Matter Injury of Prematurity and the timely use of Cranial Ultrasound for these entities.
Dr. Roger De Venecia stimulated our brains with the Menti Quiz with three winners: Dr. H. Maria O. de Vera-Diaz, Dr. Vanessa Almoden and Dr. Jocelyn Baltazar.

The Ultrasound Society of the Philippines Fellowship Training Council held the Second Interesting Case Report Series for 2021 last April 14, 2021 on the topic: SCROTAL ULTRASOUND.
The program moderator was Dr. Filipinas R. Rojo, FPCR, FUSP
Welcome Remarks was delivered by Dr. Pedro Danilo Lagamayo, USP President.
For this session, the Interesting Case Report entitled BLUE, BLACK AND GRAY BALLS: A CASE OF A CYSTIC SCROTAL MASS was presented by Dr. Ma. Corazon Amanda Esquivel – Mendoza, Ultrasound Fellow, St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City
To complement the interesting case report on Cystic Scrotal, Guest Lecturer, Dr. Anna Lyn C. Egwolf, Training Officer, Section of Ultrasound, St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City gave a very comprehensive lecture on SCROTAL ULTRASOUND, on the indications, how to perform as well as the different scrotal pathologies.

The activity’s moderator was Michael Rico B. Mesina MD, FPCR, FUSP
Dr. Pedro Danilo J. Lagamayo, USP President welcomed the participants for this learning activity.
The first lecturer, Dr. Riza D. Marquez-Planta, FPCR, FUSP, FCTMRISP from the National Kidney and Transplant Institute spoke about EXTRACRANIAL CAROTID ARTERY ULTRASOUND
The second lecturer, Dr. Michael Salvador D. Cabato, FPCR, FCTMRISP from the National Kidney and Transplant Institute talked about A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO LOWER EXTREMITY DOPPLER ULTRASOUND
Both high-yield and practical lectures were well appreciated by the participants.
Everyone enjoyed the Menti Quiz and the highest pointers were Ephraim Maniego, Raul Limos and Jelvin Co.
